The first year when the child learns to master walking and balance. It’s still important to prioritise barefoot time whenever possible, but barefoot shoes become more essential as children get more active. In the first six months, the ideal models are the most minimalist ones, almost like a “second skin,” so the child has maximum freedom of movement without restriction. They can be used as long as the size is available.

Around one year after they start walking, children usually master walking and balance. They run, jump, and play actively. For this reason, shoes—while still comfortable and barefoot-friendly—become slightly more structured with toe protection, to better support play and durability. Traditional shoes, with their narrow toe boxes, can cause various problems and deformities. We don’t need to suffer to look stylish and feel comfortable. Our feet are an essential part of the body and deserve our attention. They are our foundation, allowing us to walk, enjoy our favourite activities, and even carry out our profession.
